Its been 25 years since I was first diagnosed with a thyroid imbalance. It has been a long road of learning, experimenting, and basically "cleaning up my health act".
Looking back, it all seems so simple, but in fact it is difficult to make changes, and difficult to see health results. It doesn't just happen, unless you put in the hard work. The hard work, which I call "Habit Work", because nothing happens without good habits.
I used to drink diet coke and eat Special K cereal. I used to have a cocktail every Saturday night. I would participate in high intensity, demanding workouts.
Today, I am not on any thyroid medication. I continuously prioritize my health by prioritizing my time, sleep, and nutrition. My thyroid is balanced. My wonderful perfectly functioning thyroid, which was surgically removed in 2016, and grew back (both lobes) by 2018, is my master gland and is working perfectly.
If I could share one piece of information it would be that the body is magical, and when given the chance, it will heal. Sometimes it is what we stop doing, not what we start doing, that actually helps us.
I was born in Japan, and the art of this wave really speaks to me. I can feel the spray and the negative ions from this wave, and it reminds me that in order to heal, we need to turn to our natural world and our natural selves. It is possible to get off of your thyroid medication. It is possible to heal your thyroid. If I can do it. You can do it.
